Coverslip: Rick Danko’s Not Fade Away

Rick Danko was an incredible musician. The Band’s “bayou folk” style lies largely in debt to his work as lead vocalist and bassist. His cover of Not Fade Away for the Remember Buddy Holly compilation is an awesome example of his enjoyable music making. Unlike the original, Complete with cow bell and mouth harp, Danko’s version drips with his style, Buddy Holly’s backing band echoing the sights and sounds of the swampy south. Link below.
